Change photo requests to image requests

As part of a nearly-completed shift to distinguish requests for photos from requests for images in general, it is requested that this template be modified to place talk pages in "Wikipedia requested images of..." categories, rather than the old "Wikipedia requested photographs of..." categories. As such, please supplement all references to "photo(s) of..." and "photograph(s) of..." with "image(s) of..." in both the template and its documentation, while maintaining backwards compatibility for the old "photo" parameters. In particular, change "photograph or picture" to simply "image". Note that the "Wikipedia requested images of..." categories have already been created. Parameter alias

Would it be possible to include "needs-image" as an alternative for "needs-photo"? It is used quite a lot, to no effect. Perhaps also other alternatives used in similar templates, e.g., "image-requested". Micromesistius (talk) 08:17, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

Done Added needs-image, image-needed, and photo-needed as additional aliases. Enterprisey (talk!) 01:05, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Please update the link in the template from the redirect Portal:Amphibians and Reptiles, to the target Portal:Amphibians and reptiles. Or perhaps split the link to Portal:Amphibians and Portal:Reptiles --Nessie (talk) 20:30, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Template-protected edit request on 9 April 2019

Portal link: as suggested just above, please replace the link to Portal:Amphibians and reptiles with links to Portal:Amphibians and Portal:Reptiles. The current link is to a disambiguation page, which should be avoided. Thanks! UnitedStatesian (talk) 12:49, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

It appears that the underlying template supports only one Portal name/link. Maybe another template editor will see a clever workaround. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:02, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
There are ways of having more than one portal. The most common method is to associate portals with taskforces, this puts each portal link alongside the related taskforce; {{WikiProject California}} does this. Another (more complicated) method is to add a portal box somewhere in a text parameter; {{WikiProject Trains}} does this - its |MAIN_TEXT= parameter includes a transclusion of {{WikiProject Trains/portalbox}}. If you look at Talk:San Francisco cable car system, and expand each of the three WikiProject banners, you will see different methods in action. The first banner, {{WikiProject California}}, has the usual |PORTAL=California to produce the box for California portal and it also has |TF_3_PORTAL=San Francisco Bay Area to produce the box for San Francisco Bay Area portal. The second banner, {{WikiProject National Register of Historic Places}}, is entirely conventional in having |PORTAL=NRHP to produce the box for NRHP portal. The third banner, {{WikiProject Trains}}, uses the aforementioned {{WikiProject Trains/portalbox}} to produce one portal box containing two links, to Trains Portal and Trams Portal. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:04, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
