History

Construction and use as a residence

Paget came and settled in Shkodër and lived in the Paget Villa/English Tower, which was built by his father Lord Alfred Paget for the Protestant Missionaries headquarters. In the 1940s Edith Durham wrote an article "George Paget’s house in Shkodër" which was still standing. Edith Durham like George Paget was a Member of the Anglo-Albanian Association.

Museum

When WW2 ended the building was turned into a museum. After Enver Hoxha ordered the clocks to be removed from the Tower, Pagets Villa/English Tower continued to house the ethnographic museum until 1990. [1] [2] [3] [4]
