Falkland trade union of employees
The Falkland Island General Employees Union is a trade union representing workers in the Falkland Islands. Originally founded in 1943 as the Falkland Islands Labour Federation, the union mostly represents workers in the agriculture sector.[1]
The Falkland Islands Weekly News in 1944 carried an article on the union:
FALKLAND IS. LABOUR FEDERATION. MEMBERS ARE INFORMED THAT ENTRANCE FEES AND CONTRIBUTIONS ARE NOV/ DUE AND WILL BE. ACCEPTED AT MR. BRECHINS HOUSE. WHERE MEMBERSHIP CARDS WILL BE GIVEN. ENTRANCE FEE 10/- Weekly contributions 6d per week due from the 24th January, 1944 by all members who have previously enrolled. New members will also be accepted. M.Evans. Secretary.[2]
A number of former leaders and members of the FIGEU have been elected to the Island's General Assembly:

- Frederick John Cheek elected 1964 for Stanley (constituency).
