WalletHub (formerly CardHub.com) is a personal finance company that launched in August 2013.[1][2] It is based in Miami[3] and owned by Evolution Finance, Inc.[4][5]

WalletHub offers free consumer tools,[6][7][8] such as its WalletLiteracy Quiz[9][10] and its Financial Fitness Tool, which provides users with credit reports, credit scores and credit monitoring.[11][12] Similarly, WalletHub has tools for comparing credit cards, personal loans, car insurance and bank accounts.[13][14][15]

History

According to Web reports, WalletHub initially positioned itself as a "personal finance social network" with a focus on reviews for financial advisors.[2][16][17]  It later pivoted to become a comprehensive personal finance platform[18][19][20][21] offering a wide range of tools and resources to help users manage their money effectively.[22][23][24][25]

The company has produced a wide range of research reports, including a quarterly credit card debt report and reports comparing cities and states in financially relevant categories.[26][27][28][29] For example, in mid-November 2021, a weekly New York Times feature used Wallethub's data for what the Times headlined "The Best and Worst Cities For Celebrating Thanksgiving."[30]

WalletHub only covers the US cities with populations of at least 200,000 based on the recent US Census instead of all incorporated cities on different evaluations from best cities to live, raise a family, employment, etc.

Finally, the company successfully overcame a public trademark dispute with Major League Baseball, brought on behalf of the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs, in 2015.[31][32]

Products and services

WalletHub offers a suite of products and services designed to give people more visibility over their finances and help them improve their financial performance. This includes financial-product comparison tools[33] that help people find the best credit cards[34][35][36][37], car insurance[38][39][40], bank accounts, etc., as well as in-depth studies and analysis[41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49][50]. WalletHub also offers free credit scores, reports and monitoring through a partnership with TransUnion.[51][52][53][54][55][56][57]

In 2023, WalletHub launched a premium service that provides more robust identity theft and fraud protection services to subscribers. Products and services available to WalletHub Premium members include enhanced loan monitoring, identity theft insurance, dark web/bank account monitoring, and identity theft restoration.
