Wikipedia:WikiProject Infoboxes/embed

Many Infoboxes can take another template, including another infobox, as a module (or child-, or sub-template).

Inversely, some infoboxes can have other templates, and other templates, are configured so that they may be embedded as a "child" or "module" infobox within another.

When embedding a template it is usually necessary to set |embed=yes (or |child=yes) in the embedded (child) template.

The child template is entered as the value of a parameter in the parent, usually |module= or |embedded=.

Converting an Infobox

Quick Facts SirFred HoyleFRS, Born ...

In order to be configured for potential use as a module, an infobox must have a few adaptations, including modified styling, the suppression of the template's name display, and the addition of a subheading. Here is an example adaptation; results shown to the right; note the "Scientific career" subheading.

Infobox person

{{Infobox person}} can have another biographical infobox (or infoboxes - up to six slots are available) as a Module. Those available are listed in Category:Biographical templates usable as a module (NB may not yet be fully populated). See, for example, this edit using {{Infobox scientist}} as the child template (results shown alongside).

{{Infobox person}} can also take other child templates, for example, {{Listen}}. See this example.
