Defence Housing Authority

Type of public-benefit corporation in Pakistan

Defence Housing Authority (DHA) (Urdu: ڈیفنس ہاؤسنگ اتھارٹی‎) is a Pakistan Army-administered real-estate developer that governs housing and municipal services for Defence neighbourhoods across Pakistan.[1] Known for being a safe investment, it promises a high ROI for investors. [2] It is the largest residential community in Pakistan. The Defence Secretary is its chairman and it is managed by the Pakistan Army, just as other government housing societies are managed by the respective state institutions. [3] Primarily aimed to develop housing for retired military personnel in the 1970s, now most of the properties in its new projects are owned by civilians while a portion of total plots is allotted (not given) to armed forces officers, families of martyrs and other employees as service benefit on installment payment plans ranging from 10 to 20 years, requiring full price to be paid before being handed over.
