English:
Anastasy Vonsyatsky marching with the German American Bund, 1939. In 1936, under orders from President Roosevelt and Secretary of State Cordell Hull, FBI opened extensive investigations of fascist groups. These were conducted under the newly passed Foreign Agents Registration Act, and with substantial results. Through close counterespionage work, FBI uncovered 50 Nazi spies operating in America before the U.S. ever entered the war. Among them was Anastasy A. Vonsyatsky, a naturalized American citizen residing in Connecticut and former leader of the Russian Revolutionary Party.
