Soldiers from nine NATO member countries take part in the closing ceremony for the multinational exercise Iron Sword 2014 in Pabrade, Lithuania, Nov. 13. Lithuania served as host for the exercise, which will also certify its forces to serve as part of the NATO Response Force over the next two years. Iron Sword 2014 involved more than 2,500 personnel from the U.S., Lithuania, Canada, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, and U.K. It also takes place as part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Atlantic Resolve, a multinational, combined-arms exercise involving the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and host nations across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland aimed at enhancing interoperability, strengthening relationships among allied militaries, contributing to regional stability and demonstrating U.S. commitment to NATO.
