Gunner's Mate 3rd Class Kendall Truitt, Commander (CDR) John Morris, executive officer of the battleship USS IOWA (BB 61), take part in a press conference several days after the 47 crew members were killed in an explosion aboard the ship. The explosion occurred in the No. 2 16-inch gun turret as the IOWA was conducting routine gunnery exercises approximately 300 miles northeast of Puerto Rico on April 19th.
