Description
English: NASA engineers check out the Inflatable Re-entry Vehicle Experiment (IRVE) in the lab at the Langley Research Center. IRVE was launched on 17 August 2009 on a Black Brant 9 sounding rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility, performing as engineers expected. This is the first time an inflatable structure has served as a heat shield for atmospheric reentry.
