Summary

Description
English: A clerk employee creates punch cards containing data from the 1950 Census. The Census Bureau initially tabulated the 1950 Census using punch cards and electronic tabulators reminiscent of those developed by Herman Hollerith prior to the 1890 Census. After the installation of its first computer, UNIVAC I, in 1951, punch cards were translated to computer code on magnetic computer tape for faster processing. Keypunch machine is an IBM Type 016.
