Masjid Kotagede dikenal juga dengan nama Masjid Gedhe Mataram. Lokasi bangunan ini di Dusun Sayangan, Jagalan, Banguntapan, Bantul. Masjid tersebut dibangun pada masa pemerintahan Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I pada tanggal 27 Juni 1773 Masehi. Kompleks Masjid Mataram Kotagede ditetapkan sebagai cagar budaya dengan Peraturan Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Republik Indonesia No. PM.25/PW.007/MKP/2007 tanggal 26 Maret 2007.
