Summary
Description Renfe Alvia train in León, Spain - Flickr - transitpeople.jpg |
I made sure to include the platform signage in the frame, so you won't think I'm trying to sneak in a train photo snapped in a Starbucks parking lot. León is about 337 kilometers / 209 miles northwest of Madrid. I am far too lazy for detailed Sherlocking of transit schedules, but a quick look at renfe.com suggests that the tourist may choose from fourteen daily departures, and that half of said departures will cover the shlep in two and a quarter hours. Equivalent Northern California service might offer as many daily trains from San Francisco to Reno, 217 miles northeast, or Redding, 215 miles north. I stand by my now year-old overview of rail day trips from Spain's capital: transitophile.com/chango/rail-day-trips-from-madrid/ |
