Détail d'une robe de dignitaire Satin de soie, broderie Chine, fin 19è siècle Mandchou Le dragon à 5 griffes est, dans la Chine ancienne, un animal bénéfique qui contrôle les cieux d'où viennent les pluies qui fertilisent la terre. A ce titre, cette figure était destinée au seul Empereur de Chine. Au 19è siècle, cette règle n'a plus été appliquée aussi strictement ce qui explique sa présence sur cette robe de dignitaire présentée dans l'exposition "La pluie" au musée du quai Branly.
