Description
English: Headless statue of Entemena, ruler of Lagash, c. 2400 BCE. Long cuneiform inscription on the right upper arm and across the upper back. Diorite. From Ur (found in burnt layer on Nabonidus pavement before the inner doorway of the Ziggurat gate in the SW temenos wall according to Woolley), Mesopotamia, Iraq. The Iraq Museum, Baghdad. U 805, IM 5. Ur's 1st season of excavations by Sir Woolley, 1922/1923.
