Used on US Coast Guard (a branch of the US military) aircraft in the late pre-war period until rudder markings were ordered removed from all naval aircraft in May 1942.
Colours based on (40.1.1.2 Color of MIL-STD-2161A (AS), as FED-STD-595 red 11136 white 17925 blue 15044. Color visualization as per http://www.colorserver.net/ Proportions based on USCG Specification CG-2 effective 1 Feb 1936 with blue equal 1/3 height of rudder at hinge line and stripes each equal to 1/5 chord between hinge line and trailling edge of rudder. Area ahead of hinge line on rudder painted as per remainder of airframe. |
