Summary
Description Vadito schist wall.jpg |
English:
This image shows a road cut in the muscovite (mica) schist of the Vadito Group along the highway from Dixon to Picuris Pueblo, New Mexico, USA. The image was taken at midday on the summer solstice, and the parallel layers of muscovite in the surface reflect the sunlight to create the illusion of a metal wall. This image has not been digitally manipulated except to stitch three individual exposures into a panorama. The road and road cut are nearly straight; the curved appearance is an artifact of the panorama technique.
