It was later given a wide release at over 2,500 theaters in the United States and Canada on December 20.[1] The film grossed a worldwide total of over $251 million on a budget of $40 million.[1] As of 2019, it is also Russell's highest-grossing film to date.[2] Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator, surveyed 280 reviews and judged 93% to be positive.[3]
