The election was called after Joanne Tomlin resigned as a Councillor due to personal issues.[4] It was held on 13 October 2016.[5]

  1. Elected as a Conservative but subsequently resigned from the party and is now an Independent.[2]
  2. Graham Wilson represented Newtown for the Liberal Democrats before crossing the floor to join the Conservatives, whereas Lindsay Wilson had previously represented Alderney for the Liberal Democrats.[3]
