History

After the first edition took place under the name "Airbase One" and an annual edition was decided due to the success, the name was changed to Airbeat One in 2004 for legal reasons.[3]

A main stage was set up for the first time in 2010, allowing larger headliners to be presented. From 2016 the number of visitors rose sharply and by the 15th anniversary the festival recorded 40,000 visitors per festival day.[4]

In 2018, the festival site was opened on Wednesday. With about 55,000 visitors per day and a total of 180,000 thousand in total, a new record was set.[5] After the festival could not take place for two years due to the corona pandemic, it set a new record in 2022 with a total of 200,000 visitors. It was also the only festival this year to host 37 DJs from DJ Mag's Top 100 list.[2]

Venue

The festival consists of five major stages and includes several camping areas for festival visitors who want to camp directly on site. Shuttle buses are available for those arriving from the surrounding area.

There is a VIP area on the camping site, as well as a loud and quiet area. There is also the so-called Green Camp. No cars are allowed on this.[6]

The main stage has always had a certain look for a number of years. This is usually a country with one of its landmarks. In 2018, for example, this was England with Tower Bridge.

Transport

The festival area is located on an airfield in Neustadt-Glewe, directly at the Autobahn 14 and Autobahn 24, making it accessible by car from all directions. There are also train connections from Berlin and Hamburg to Ludwigslust. From the Ludwigslust railway station you can take the regional train line RB 14 to Neustadt-Glewe railway station.
