Albanianism[1] (Albanian: Shqiptaria) is a term usually used by non-religious Albanians to express their pride for their nation. It is an identification that sets them apart from many religious countries where people identify primarily with their religion and then their ethnicity. Albanians use this term to indicate that they identify only with their nationality and not with any particular religion or religious branch (Orthodox, Catholicism, Muslim, etc.). They intend to emphasize that many national heroes came from different religious backgrounds and that they all fought for their country. This term is a symbol of unity, that unites Albanians who are proud of their country. The term is also very rarely used by religious Albanians who value their country the same or even higher than their religion.

Not to be confused with albinism.

A common phrase for this term is "The religion of an Albanian is Albanianism; Albanian: Feja e Shqiptarit është Shqiptaria"[2][3][4]

This expression is now known by the neighboring countries only because it was used during wars.[5]

This expression is often associated with Albanian nationalism and the idea of the formation of an Ethnic Albania.
