Bridget Martyn (August 4, 1935 โ 2020) was an encyclopedist, the senior editorial manager of Oxford University Press's Oxford Illustrated Encyclopaedia in 1993 and editor-in-chief of Microsoft Encarta from 1993 through 1995.[1]
She authored The Bible for Children with Jean Atcheson, first published in 1973 which had a foreword by the Archbishop of Canterbury.[2][3] In 1978 she published Fairy Tales which included retellings of classic fairy tales.[4]
Martyn was born in Cairo, Egypt.[1] She went to Edinburgh University and graduated with a degree in French and German.[5] She married Robert Hadaway in 1967.[1] They raised three children and later divorced.[1]
