Claudymar Garcés Sequera (born 2 October 1998)[1] is a Venezuelan karateka. She won the silver medal in the women's kumite 61 kg event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.[2][3]

Career

In 2018, Garcés won the gold medal in the women's kumite 61 kg event at the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Barranquilla, Colombia.

In 2021, Garcés qualified at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Paris, France to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.[5][6] She finished in third place in her pool during the pool stage in the women's 61 kg event and she did not advance to compete in the semifinals.[4]

She won the silver medal in the women's 61 kg event at the 2022 Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar, Colombia.[7] She also won the silver medal in her event at the 2022 South American Games held in Asunción, Paraguay.

In 2023, Garcés competed in the women's 61 kg event at the World Karate Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.[8] She was eliminated in her first match.[8] A week later, Garcés won one of the bronze medals in her event at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.[9][10]
