Hannah Traylen (born 28 March) is a British actress and writer. She played Holly in the 2021 one-take film Boiling Point and the subsequent 2023 TV series of the same name.[1][2]

Early life

Traylen was born in Crawley, England. She attended Oriel High School. Whilst there, she caught the eye of a drama teacher who had worked previously with Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham, with alumni including Vicky McClure and Jack O'Connell. The teacher encouraged her to train at drama school and follow acting as a career. She was accepted into Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts at the age of 17 and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Acting. She mentioned in a recent interview that at the age of 3 she had told her mother that she wanted to be on screen.

In 2016, she received the Sir Alec Guinness Award for Actor of the Year.[3][4][5]

Career

Acting

Traylen's first television appearance was in a 2017 episode of Unforgotten, followed by a role in Call the Midwife.

In 2021, Traylen played Holly in the one-take film Boiling Point and the subsequent 2023 TV series of the same name.[6][7]

She starred as Vix in the feature film Hounded (known in some territories as Hunted), appearing alongside Samantha Bond, James Lance and Larry Lamb.

Traylen is also known for playing Chrissy in Ridley Road, Hayley in Sexy Beast, Emma in The Responder, Hayley in Beyond Paradise, Mandy in Behind Her Eyes and Nancy in Howards End.[8]

In addition to her film and television credits, Traylen has also appeared in theatre, leading A New And Better You at The Yard Theatre and The Kneebone Cadillac at Theatre Royal, Plymouth, as Maddy Kneebone.

Writing

In 2023, Traylen announced that she had written her debut film entitled Small Fry, which is currently in pre-production with director Phil Barantini's production company Made Up Productions. In Small Fry, Traylen will star as Amy. [9][10]
