The International Headquarters of the Salvation Army

This is a modern building on a site which has been used by the Salvation Army for its headquarters since 1881. The present building was opened by Princess Anne in 2004, who described the office as a "working building" but also a "worship building." The previous building on the site was opened by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.[2] The international headquarters of the Salvation Army houses the offices of the General of the Salvation Army and the Chief of Staff. The international headquarters, according to the organisation, "oversees, coordinates and supports the work" of the Salvation Army in its 133 countries.[3] The international headquarters is also responsible for operations in the United Kingdom and Ireland till 2023, when a new Headquarters for the Territory of the United Kingdom and Ireland was set in Denmark Hill. Other regions where the Army operates are governed by localized headquarters.[4]
