County in Bushehr province, Iran

Jam County (Persian: شهرستان جم) is in Bushehr province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Jam.[2] The older name, Cham (meaning a "brook"), is still preserved for various locales around the city), but completely replaced by the new, more "meaningful" modern Persian name.[citation needed]

At the 2006 census, the county's population was 37,999 in 8,412 households.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 51,446 people in 13,748 households.[4] At the 2016 census, the county's population was 70,051 in 19,997 households.[5]

The fast-growing town of Jam, has a relatively moderate, wetter climate, and is serving as home to workers at the nearby, but a very hot and dry, Kangan industrial complex. Jam is growing exponentially, and in fact, affluently. Most of the workers in the city and farms and gardens around the city, consist of Afghan migrant workers.[citation needed]
