Upcoming Indian Kannada-language action film

Kantara: Chapter 1 is an upcoming Indian Kannada-language period action thriller film set during the reign of Kadambas of Banavasi[2] written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under Hombale Films. It is a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara. The film stars Rishab Shetty as Kaadubettu Shiva.[3]

Filming began in November 2023 and the film is planned for release in late 2024. The first look and teaser was released on 27 November 2023.[4][5] The publicity poster is designed by Kaani Studio.[6][7] B. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the soundtrack and background score.

Theatrical

Kantara: Chapter 1 is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2025 in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali and English languages.[9]
