Kurigram-1 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2019 by Aslam Hossain Saudagar of the Awami League.

The constituency encompasses Bhurungamari and Nageshwari upazilas.[1][2]

History

The constituency was created in 1984 from a Rangpur constituency when the former Rangpur District was split into five districts: Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Kurigram, and Gaibandha.

  1. Sources vary with regard to the 2014 vote count. They report between 74,429 and 74,720 votes for the winner, between 30,172 and 38,172 votes for the runner up, and between 0 and 1,601 votes for the third place finisher, but the discrepancies in the figures are not large enough to change the overall outcome.
