This is a list of airlines by foundation date, founded before December 31, 1930.

The date of the first airline service may differ from the foundation date. Bold names and a light-green background indicate that the airline is still in operation, while yellow indicates a disputed claim.

Notes

  1. Avianca claims all SCADTA history pre-merger as their own, a claim generally accepted.
  2. Other airlines are still included without question despite also having merged, e.g. Aeroflot, LATAM, Qantas, etc.
