  1. Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah accepted invitations to the Big 12 for the 2024-25 season.
  2. The Big West Conference will begin sponsoring swimming and diving with Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and Hawaii for the 2024-25 season.
  3. Alternately CSU Bakersfield.
  4. Alternately FAU.
  5. Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis will split into two separate universities starting in the fall of 2024. The athletics department will transfer to the new Indiana University Indianapolis.
  6. Merrimack and Sacred Heart join the MAAC in July 2024.
  7. Alternately "The Mount".
  8. Because of the existence of Queens College, an NCAA Division II school in New York City, several other terms see use:
    • National media typically use "Queens (NC)".
    • The school itself interchangeably uses "Queens University" and "QUC".

  10. Cal, SMU, and Stanford have accepted invitations to the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2024-25 season.
  11. Alternately Army West Point.
  12. UCLA and USC have accepted invitations to the Big Ten Conference with a start date of July 1, 2024.

  14. University of Miami only participates in men's diving.
  15. Alternately UNCW.
  16. Texas is scheduled to end its contract with the Big 12 Conference and join the SEC by July 1, 2024 at the latest.

  18. Bellarmine University began the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I in the 2020–21 school year, moving from GLVC to the ASUN Conference, and placed swimming in the CCSA in 2020–21 until ASUN began sponsoring swimming and diving for the 2023-24 season.
  19. Le Moyne College will begin transitioning out of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference in the 2023–24 season and will become a full D-I member of the NEC in the 2027–28 school year.
  20. Lindenwood University and the University of Southern Indiana started transitions from the D-II Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2022–23 and joined the Ohio Valley Conference at that time. Both schools joined the Summit League in swimming and diving. Both Lindenwood and USI will become full D-I members in 2026–27.
  21. Stonehill College began transitioning out of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference in the 2022–23 season and will become a full D-I member of the NEC in the 2026–27 school year.
  22. Queens University began a transition from the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference in the 2022–23 season, and will become a full D-I member of the ASUN Conference in the 2026–27 school year.
  23. The University of California, San Diego moved to Division I in 2020, joining the Big West Conference for most sports, with full D-I membership in 2024–25. It is maintaining its MPSF membership in swimming & diving. UC San Diego will join the Big West in swimming when that conference adds men's and women's swimming & diving in 2024.
  24. Because of the existence of several other institutions with the St. Thomas name, media typically use "St. Thomas (MN)".
  25. The University of St. Thomas, which was expelled from the MIAC at the end of the 2020–21 school year, joined the Summit League starting in the 2021–22 season. St. Thomas has received an NCAA waiver allowing it to move directly from Division III to Division I on the four-year schedule used for transitions from Division II to Division I, thereby becoming a full D-I member in 2025–26.
  26. Utah Tech University (then known as Dixie State University) began the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I in the 2020–21 school year, moving from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to the Western Athletic Conference.

  1. Emory and Henry College will begin the transition to Division II in the 2022–23 season. They will compete in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference.
  2. Bluefield State planned on adding men's and women's swimming for the 2021–22 school year however they did not field a team for that season. They will compete as a swimming independent.

NCAA Division III

  1. Cabrini will close after the 2023-24 season.
  2. SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport will join the Empire 8 for the 2024-25 season.
  3. University of Rochester has dual membership to both the University Athletic Association and Liberty League. However Rochester only competes at the UAA conference championship.

NAIA

  1. University of British Columbia and University of Victoria hold concurrent memberships in U Sports and NAIA. They are not members of an NAIA conference that sponsors swimming.
