Mohakhali (Bengali: মহাখালী) is a neighborhood of Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh.[1] Mohakhali is one of the busiest places in Dhaka city. Banani is located in the north and Tejgoan Industrial area is in the south while Gulshan is in the East and Dhaka Cantonment, T & T college and T & T satellite offices are situated on the west side of the slum. Many important offices and institutions are based in Mohakhali. Mohakhali Bus Terminal is one of the most important terminals of Dhaka city.[2] Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital, Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), Institute of Health Technology, Dhaka, BRAC Centre, ICDDR,B and Government Titumir College are situated in Mohakhali. Mohakhali fly-over, the first of its kind was opened to traffic on November 2004.[3] Mohakhali General Market is situated beside the flyover bridge close to the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

Korail Slum is located in Mohakhali.[4] In December 2016 a fire destroyed over 500 shanty homes in the slum.[5] That year the Saat Tola slum which is also located in the Mohakhali caught fire.[6] In 26 October 2023 massive fire at Khawaja Tower happened and 3 people died from that incedent.[7]
