The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture is an organisation for all Nigerian state and related Chambers of Commerce of Nigeria. NACCIMA is an organization whose goal is to further the interests of businesses in the country.[1][2][3][4][5] NACCIMA was established in 1960.NACCIMA's current National President is the Hon. Dele Kelvin Oye Esq. He was elected President on 8 June 2023.

History

The Lagos chamber of commerce and industry pioneered the establishment of the chamber movement in Nigeria with its establishment in 1888 when Nigeria was still under British coloniel rule. The chamber movement was however slow during the era of independence in 1960. NACCIMA was incorporated in April 1960 as association of Chambers of commerce in Nigeria and the Southern Cameroons. In April 1963 it was re-named to Association of Chambers of commerce and mines of Nigeria. In 1972, it agreed to change its name to Nigerian Association Of Chambers Of Commerce, Industry, Mines And Agriculture. NACCIMA'S membership and the chamber movement in Nigeria as a whole experienced a rapid trajectory between 1978 and 2021 with a boost in the membership in all the 36 states.[6][7]

Vision

NACCIMA was established to create and provide a platform for joint action by all its members concern affecting commerce and industry in Nigeria. NACCIMA works within Nigeria and outside Nigeria. It is one of the most effective and efficient organ through which the organised private sector businesses in Nigeria and influence government programmes and policies on a issues affecting trade, commerce, agriculture, mining and industry. NACCIMA is the Nigerian government partner in fostering economic growth and development. It use to nominate representatives for appointment as institutional member of various government bodies, and committees and several government agency.[8][9]

Achievements of NACCIMA

NACCIMA has played a pivotal role in shaping the Nigerian business landscape. The association has emerged as the driving force behind economic progress, providing a platform for businesses across various sectors. NACCIMA initiates several initiatives aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in promoting technology innovations thereby strengthening the organisation's role in fostering sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.[10][11]
