New Zealand at the FIFA World Cup

Participation of New Zealand's national football team in the FIFA World Cup

This article summarises the results and overall performances of New Zealand at the FIFA World Cup.

New Zealand has qualified for the tournament stage of the FIFA World Cup on two occasions: in 1982 and 2010. They have also attempted to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 14 times, the first attempt being in 1970 when they lost to Israel.

In New Zealand's first appearance in 1982, representing the OFC, they ended up losing their first game 2–5 to Scotland, but they eventually exited the tournament without a win. New Zealand made up for lost time in the South Africa 2010, although this New Zealand team fell in the group stage, they managed to go undefeated, drawing all three of their first stage games, where They also managed to defeat current champions Italy (where they finished last in their group with Paraguay and Slovakia) after a draw with a goal from the season's top scorer, Shane Smeltz.
