Paippad is a census town in the Changanassery Taluk of the Kottayam district in Kerala.[1] It is also the headquarters of the Paippad gram panchayat.

Demographics

As per the 2011 Indian census, Paippad has a total population of 21,338, a 10.6% decline from the 19,281 registered in 2001. This is in contrast to most of the surrounding areas, which registered population declines during the same period. 9.2% of the population is under 6 years of age. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes constitute 11.3% and 0.1% of the population respectively. The total literacy rate was 97.7% (97.98% for males and 97.45% for females), which is higher than the state average of 94% and the national average of 74.04%.

Paippad is also famous for being the second largest residential space for north Indian migrant workforce after Ernakulam.[2]

According to the 2011 census, Hindus are the plurality with 47% of the population adhering to the religion. Christians form a significant minority, constituting 40% of the population. Muslims constitute 11% of the population.
