Rajasthali (Bengali: রাজস্থলী) is an upazila of Rangamati District[1] in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Geography

Rajasthali is located at 22.3833°N 92.2417°E / 22.3833; 92.2417. It has 6,014 households and total area 145.03 km2. It is bordered by Kaptai upazila to the north, Belaichhari upazila to the east, Bandarban district to the south and Chittagong district to the west.

As of the 2011 Bangladeshi census, Rajasthali upazila had 6,014 households and a population of 26,083. 5,949 (22.81%) were under 10 years of age. Rajasthali had an average literacy rate of 44.2%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 919 females per 1000 males. 3,080 (11.81%) of the population lived in urban areas.[2] The ethnic population was 18,702 (71.70%), of which Marma were 10,269 and Tanchangya 4,369.[3]

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Rajasthali has a population of 17198. Males constitute 53.84% of the population, and females 46.16%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 9278. Rajasthali has an average literacy rate of 25.7% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[4]

Administration

Rajasthali Upazila is divided into three union parishads: Bangalhalia, Gaindya, and Ghilachari. The union parishads are subdivided into 9 mauzas and 106 villages.[5]
