Quick Facts Personal information, Full name ...

Calderwood scored three goals[lower-alpha 1] for Scotland in the 1884–85 British Home Championship, but was later suspended for two years by the Scottish Football Association for being adjudged to have become a professional when signing for English club Bootle before making an appearance for Cowlairs in the (amateur-only) 1887–88 Scottish Cup.[2][4] He returned to play at a high level after this suspension.[1]

Notes

  1. The SFA website and London Hearts website credit Calderwood with two goals against Wales; Andy Mitchell's book and John Litster's files assign the first of these to William Anderson.[1][3]
