Sawdust is a neighborhood (formerly a separate unincorporated community) in the city of Harlem, Columbia County, Georgia, United States.[1] The community is on U.S. Route 78, 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the center of Harlem and 3 miles (5 km) east of Dearing.

History

Sawdust was so named on account of there being several sawmills near the original town site.[2] The name sometimes is spelled out as "Saw Dust".[1] A post office called Saw Dust was established in 1852, and remained in operation until 1895.[3]
