County in Fars province, Iran


Sepidan County (Persian: شهرستان سپیدان) is in Fars province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ardakan.[3]

According to the 2006 census, the county's population was 87,801 in 20,127 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 89,398 people in 24,172 households.[5] At the 2016 census, the county's population was 91,049 in 26,381 households.[2]

Administrative divisions

The population history and structural changes of Sepidan County's administrative divisions over three consecutive censuses are shown in the following table. The latest census shows three districts, eight rural districts, and three cities.[2]

In October 2019, Beyza District was separated from the county in the establishment of Beyza County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the city of Beyza as its capital and only city.[6]

Handicrafts and tourism

Its cool summer climate, snow-covered mountains, and natural tourist attractions, such as Tizab Gorge, Chelleh-gah, and riding tracks and ski slopes, have helped boost the tourism industry.
