Village in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland


Serock [ˈsɛrɔt͡sk] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Pruszcz, within Świecie County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-central Poland.[1] It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) west of Pruszcz, 25 km (16 mi) west of Świecie, and 28 km (17 mi) north of Bydgoszcz.

History

Before the Holocaust, the village had a Jewish community.[2]

In September 1939, during the German invasion of Poland, the village was a site of massacre of several dozens of Polish prisoners of war by the German troops (the Serock massacre [pl]).[3][4][5]
