Steven Rhoads is an American politician who currently represents New York's 5th State Senate district in the New York State Senate. He was elected in the 2022 New York State Senate election, defeating incumbent Democrat John Brooks, who was redistricted from the 8th district. He is a member of the Republican Party.[1]

Career

Elected to the Nassau County Legislature in 2015 as a Republican, Steve Rhoads has focused his time on providing tax relief to the Nassau County residents. Accomplishing his goal, proposing and passing over $100 million in tax and fee cuts for Nassau residents. He also has a history of supporting the police, by blocking efforts to defund police and investing more in the Nassau County Police Department. As a Legislator, he also worked to create the Office of the Crime Victim Advocate.

He has described the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), which oversees public transit in New York, as "Money Thrown Away."[2] In 2023, he opposed a plan to implement congestion pricing in lower Manhattan, New York City.[2]
