Production

Development

After the drama Kizhakku Vaasal, Radaan Mediaworks decide to produce 'Thayamma', Initially, the title of the serial was named 'Thayamma'.[2] The first promo was released in the name of as 'Thayamma Kudumbathaar' on 16 January 2024.[3]

On beginning of April 2023, DD Podhigai[4] confirmed through a press release that it would distribute new Tamil serial, to be produced by Radhika Sarathkumar under the banner Radaan Mediaworks. It is DD Podhigai's first show with Sarathkumar.[5]

The production team and the channel put an end to the rumors by releasing the first promo on January 2024 on DD Podhigai with revealing the full title name 'Thayamma Kudumbathaar'.[6][7]

Casting

The production began with Radhika Sarathkumar and Venu Arvind being cast in lead roles.[8] Venu Arvind made his comeback after Chandrakumari. Radhika plays an important role,[citation needed] as a mother struggling with her two daughters. Harshini and Arjun was selected to portray the lead roles. Harshini made her comeback after eighteen years.[9]
