It is found in Afghanistan, China, Iran,[2] Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. The white-winged woodpecker's natural habitats are temperate forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
