• November 2 – De Akkers metro station crash: an empty metro train on the Rotterdam Metro crashed through the buffer stop at De Akkers metro station in the city of Spijkenisse, the Netherlands. The lead car of the train came to rest partially on the sculpture of a whale's tale erected in front of the station, preventing the train from falling to the street below.^[67]
