New research digs into how the COVID-19 pandemic changed people's personality traits—and not always in the ways you might expect.

For entrepreneurs, being unapologetically weird can be an advantage. But, it can also be a liability, a new study shows.

"People who are prone to feeling guilt in their everyday lives are less likely to take bribes," says Hongbo Yu.

Four broad categories capture the myriad ways we use social media, say researchers. And each category is tied to a cluster of personality traits.

"The workspace should be designed to fit the worker, and not the other way around," says Esther Sternberg.

People high in antagonistic personality traits are more likely to endorse negative beliefs about homosexual and transgender people, research finds.

Cats are often left out of animal visitation events aimed at reducing stress, but researchers say the right people could really benefit.

"Hopefully this work can help people who are feeling isolated to remember that there are simple ways to feel connected."

The gender of a person's siblings doesn't appear to have a meaningful effect on their personality traits, research in nine countries finds.
