Description
English: Brig. Gen. Frederick S. Strong commanded the US Army, Pacific (Hawaiian Department) from 1916-1917. He graduated from the US Military Academy in 1880 with a commission in the Artillery. He served in the Spanish-American war, Commanded the 40th Division during the First World War. He received a promotion to major general on 5 August 1917, and following the war, he retired at his own request on 17 August 1919. He died on 9 March 1935. His son, Frederick S. Strong Jr., also graduated from West Point, and was a brigadier general and World War II veteran.
