Summary

Description

1909 map of Downtown Washington, D.C. Borders of the map include (all roads on the map are located in Northwest): E Street on the north, 13th Street on the west, B Street on the south, and 7th Street on the east. Pennsylvania Avenue is the road running diagonally across the entire map.

Except for the Old Post Office Pavilion (light pink square), all of the buildings located south of Pennsylvania Avenue were demolished in the 1930s. That area is now Federal Triangle and home to various federal government buildings. (example: the Center Market site is now home to the National Archives building ) The contemporary layout of the city doesn't include the portions of Louisiana Avenue, C, D, 11th, and 13th Streets that were south of Pennsylvania Avenue. Little B Street and Ohio Avenue no longer exists. B Street is now Constitution Avenue.

The contemporay layout north of Pennsylvania Avenue doesn't include 8th Street between D and Pennsylvania; Market Space no longer exists. That area is now home to the United States Navy Memorial and entrances to a Washington Metro station. D Street between 9th and 10th is now covered by the J. Edgar Hoover Building .
