Pontiac celebrated its 50th anniversary with the Transam Special Edition; Black with Gold accents and 6.6 litre (400 cu in ) V8 This car was made famous in the movie; Smokey and the Bandit, set in 1977, staring Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields. It was about illegally transporting beer from Texas to Atlanta in a Semi and Reynolds followed in the Trans Am, attracting the Highway Patrols attention rather than the Semi attracting their attention.
