The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911.
The Camaro was introduced as competition for Ford's pony car, the Mustang, the Mustang, introduced in 1964 had been a huge success.
The third generation Camaro was built from 1981-92, they featured hatchback bodies, fuel injection, 5 speed manuals and 4 speed autos.
1982; Available in base Sport Coupe, upmarket Berlinetta with gold accents, and the performance Z28 with a different nose and body kit. Pace Car replica this year
1985; refreshed smoother front styling, deeper valance on Z28 new IROC-Z option on Z28; better suspension and wheels.
1987; Berlinetta replaced by LT again, Convertible reintroduced
1988; LT and base Z28 dropped, leaving the base coupe and IROC-Z, base models now got a spoiler
1989; RS reintroduced as base model
1991; IROC-Z now just Z28 again featuring a high rise spoiler and non-functional hood blisters.
1987 engines; 135hp 173 cu in V6, 165hp 305 cu in V8 (190hp in Z28 and 225hp in IROC-Z)
