Govia Thameslinks 8 car class 700 EMU number 700008 (401008, 402008, 403008, 406008, 407008, 410008, 411008 and 412008) is photographed using the third rail while working 2E75 from Sevenoaks to Kentish Town on the third day of revenue operation (30 November 2016) on the route. The diagram for the day was 1E64 to Sevenoaks 2E75 to Kentish Town 2E33 to Sevenoaks 2E51 to West Hampstead Thameslink 2E47 to Sevenoaks and 1E98 to Bedford. 700008 was built by Siemens in Krefeld, Germany. Owned by and leased from Evershot Rail Group (Cross London Trains), the class 700 is approximately 25% lighter than the trains they replace. Due to the weight saving they are said to reduce track wear and tear and are claimed to be up to 50% more energy efficient.
