March 15, 1997, TIRANA, ALBANIA -- American citizens walk single-file through a heavily guarded perimeter to board a U.S. Marine CH-53 Super Stallion combat assault helicopter, from a field inside the American Embassy housing compound. U.S. Naval forces from the Amphibious Readiness Group, led by the Assault ship USS Nassau (LHA 4) continue to evacuate citizens from the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, after the Albanian government lost control of its military and dissolved into anarchy.
